The Details

Saint Helena Spade Guinea Shield Silver Coins includes the Spade Shield version of the royal arms. The Spade Shield arose in 1714 by King George I, the Spade Shield reflects the recent union of the crowns of England and Scotland with the lions on the top half, and the merger of the House of Hanover (of which George I was Elector) is reflected with the white horse on the bottom half. King George III added the Spade Shield design to circulation guineas in 1787.
