Numismatic Icons – Arethusa 1-oz silver coin 2023

On a modern adaptation of ancient Greek coinage, here poses the nymph Arethusa! Her beauty was said to be so magnetic she couldn’t shake the men who saw her! After pleading to Artemis for escape, she was transformed into a fountain of water on the island of Ortygia in Sicily. Probably just a creative explanation for the mysterious occurrence of fresh water in the middle of the ocean, but the Greek people sure loved her story! And so do modern collectors.
